Mandarin Ducks on the Hunte River in Northern Germany. Small colonies of the
species are present in various places throughout Europe, England in particular.
Total numbers here are said to be larger today than those in their native Asia.

Both pictures of these flashy males were taken during an exceptionally mild December of 2011.
In the course of the few weather dependent hours of Birding opportunity I didn’t spot any females. Let me add that I was there mainly to look for much smaller subjects of interest, the Eisvogel..!
