Hooded Mergansers in the Northeast... 5 page report with 14 photographs about Hooded Mergansers, also affectionately referred to as "Hoodies". They certainly are amongst the cutest, funkiest, often rather amusing (from a human point of view) ducks to observe... Given the fact that they weigh less than
2 pounds, Hoodies can and will make quite a splash. Too bad my observations on the species has
to be somewhat limited as they don’t nest in the East where I get to cover them. Sometimes even
during a “great hair day”... Pair behavior, constant quest for food and the odd ways of a single male
who seems to prefer the company of Mallard ducks are presented here.
